Nota Biográfica

Mária Cristina Almeida is a mathematics teacher from 1986. She is also professor at João de Deus Higher Education School. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and a Graduation in Mathematics (educational branch), from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, and PhD in Education Sciences, in 2013, from the New University of Lisbon. Since 2007 she has integrated project research teams focused on mathematics learning, curricular innovation, success in school mathematics, and historical studies. She has been a member of the scientific committee of several seminar and congresses, has developed research focused mainly on the history of mathematics education, particularly, on curricular development and on secondary teachers’ education, and wrote some chapters of research books on these issues. She also published papers in several peer-reviewed journals and congress proceedings. She leads the Research Group on the History and Memories of Math Teaching of the APM (Association of Mathematics Teachers).
