Bio note
Full Professor in the Department of Geography and Regional Planning at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Coordinator and researcher on various national and international projects on themes related to desertification, climate change and natural disasters. Member of the National Commission to Combat Desertification. In 2013 she received the United Nations ‘Dryland Champions’ award from the UNCCD. Scientific manager of the Vale Formoso Experimental Soil Erosion Centre. Member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences. Member of the National Council for the Environment and Sustainable Development.
