Bio note

From Porto, he has a PhD in Contemporary History from the University of Minho and is a retired professor of public higher education. Member of the Board of The International Committee for the Conservation of the Industrial Heritage. President of the Portuguese Association for Industrial Heritage. Director of the magazine ‘Arqueologia Industrial’. Founder and director of the Ave Basin Textile Industry Museum in Famalicão. He has organised numerous exhibitions on industrial heritage (including the exhibition commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Portuense Industrial Association in 1999), as well as meetings and congresses on the same subject. He is a member of the Dynamising Group of Turismo de Portugal's Portuguese Industrial Tourism Network. He was the Commissioner of the exhibition ‘1820. Revolução Liberal do Porto’, part of the Bicentenary Commemorations of the Liberal Revolution of 1820, organised in 2020 by Porto City Council. He has published numerous articles and books in the fields of heritage and industrial archaeology, as well as contemporary economic and political history.
