Bio note

I have a PhD in Human Geography (specializing in Urban Geography) from the University of Barcelona (2009) and am currently the Principal Investigator of the CICS.Nova Research Chair in Tourism, Leisure and Urban Dynamics at NOVA University Lisbon. Throughout my academic career spanning over twenty years, my main research focus has been the interaction between nightlife, tourism, and urban transformations. I am the founder and coordinator of the LXNIGHTS Research Group, an international team of researchers studying the geographies of the night city, co-founder and vice-coordinator of the International Night Studies Network, and, since January 2025, I have been the National Coordinator of the NOMADIC MSCA Staff Exchange Project (2025-2028; Contract No.: 101183165). I am a member of the Editorial Board of the World Leisure Journal and was a scientific consultant for the Geographies of Nightlife project in Lisbon, Madrid and Barcelona (2018-2020) and for the SAFE!N Project: Safe Night Certification in Lisbon (2015-2017).
