Bio note
She is a tenured associate professor at NOVA University of Lisbon – School of Social Sciences and Humanities (NOVA FCSH), where she teaches in the Sociology Department and coordinates the PhD program in Human Ecology. She has extensive experience supervising theses at both the master's and PhD levels, as well as post-doctoral projects. Additionally, she is a Visiting Professor at the NOVA School of Medicine, where she teaches the History and Sociology of Food course in the Nutrition Degree. She has also taught at foreign universities. She is a senior researcher at CICS.NOVA and the coordinator of the RG4 - Sustainability and Socio-Ecological Systems research group. Her research experience spans both national and international projects, funded by the Portuguese Science Foundation (FCT) and the European Union. Her work is interdisciplinary, drawing from multiple fields, namely geography, sociology and human ecology. Her main areas of research are sustainability, food systems and food waste to identify best solutions to reduce it at consumer level. She is a member of the Society for Human Ecology.
