Bio note

Sociologist, researcher at CICS.NOVA (Interdisciplinary Centre for Social Sciences) and collaborating researcher at IHC (Institute of Contemporary History) at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. He has worked in the fields of sociology of knowledge, history of science and historical sociology. His research interests include the history of the humanities, science in imperial contexts, the history of scientific diplomacy, and science and the politics of fire. He is a member of the project Cultures of Enquête: Towards a Praxeology of Surveying (17th-21st Century), funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), and the project Landscapes of Fire: A Political and Environmental History of Major Fires in Portugal (1950-2020), funded by the FCT. Between 2020 and 2022, he was a member of the board of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Social Sciences at Universidade Nova de Lisboa and was responsible for coordinating the Research Group (GI6) on Education, Knowledge and Culture. He is a member of the Scientific Council of the Digital Dictionary of the Contemporary World: Connected Histories of Portugal.
