Bio note
Fernando Diogo has a PhD in Sociology, is an Associate Professor at the University of the Azores and a researcher at CICS.NOVA.UAC/CICS.UAc. He was a member of the Economic and Social Council of the Azores (2019-2025) and was head of the Poverty, Social Exclusion and Social Policies section of the APS (2010-2023), which he founded. He is a member of the EAPN working group on child poverty and a consultant for scientific projects at the Universities of Porto, Minho and ISCTE-IUL. At the University of the Azores, he was head of CICS (2018-2022), and is director of the Master's in Social Policies and Regional Development and the Youth Observatory (since 2022). He has authored studies and publications in the intersection of the areas of poverty, labour and employment, especially on the Azores, as well as on youth and their relationship with the world of work, and also on precarious employment and child poverty. In 2024 he won the António Dornelas Award from the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security and the Gaspar Fructuoso Award from Ribeira Grande City Council.
