Bio note
She has a PhD in Sociology from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, is an Associate Professor in the Sociology department of NOVA.FCSH and a researcher at CICS.NOVA. As an assistant researcher at the National Institute of Health, IP - Dr Ricardo Jorge, she coordinated the first nationwide prevalence study on violence against older people in the family context - the ‘Ageing and Violence’ project, funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (2011-2014). From 2016 to 2019 she carried out a research project entitled ‘Ageing in an Institution: an interactionist perspective on the provision of care’, as part of a post-doctoral programme (FCT). She has carried out research in the areas of health, ageing, long-term care and migration.
