Bio note
Ana Maria Brandão is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho and an Integrated Researcher at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Social Sciences - University of Minho (CICS.NOVA.UMinho), which she currently coordinates. She has a PhD in Sociology from the University of Minho, with a thesis entitled ‘E se tu fosse um rapaz?’ (What if you were a boy?). Female homo-eroticism and the social construction of identity’, her research interests centre on qualitative social research methodologies and analysing the processes of identity (re)construction in modernity, focusing on the intersection between sexuality and gender.
