Maria da Saudade Baltazar is a sociologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology of the School of Social Sciences of the University of Évora. She coordinated the CICS.NOVA.UÉvora centre (2015-2020). She is a member of the coordination team of the Security, Defence and Armed Forces Thematic Section of the Portuguese Sociological Association (APS) and belongs to the Board Members of RN27 of the European Sociological Association (ESA). Since 1990, the researcher has been teaching and researching in the areas of Development, Planning, and Defence and Security, with coordination and participation in research projects financed by national and European funds and has published books and articles on these main areas of scientific interest.

Research Interests:

Public policies. Defence, security and development. Territorial, social and gender inequalities.  Strategic planning and collaborative methodologies.
