Domingos Santos holds a Degree on Environmental Engineering (FCT-UNL, a Master on Urban and Regional Planning (UTL) and a PhD on Applied Environmental Sciences (UAveiro). He is Professor at the Castelo Branco Polytechnic Institute and has been associated with the teaching of entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as project management. He has developed research and published mainly in the areas of regional innovation systems, territorial innovation policies, smart cities and regions, as well as entrepreneurship.

Main Projects:

  • 2006: member of the team (senior consultant) that accomplished for the European Commission the report Specific Analysis on the Regional Dimensions of Investment in Research, Erawatch Network/Logotech/IESE;
  • 2012: Co-coordinator of the team that accomplished the reports Plano de Desenvolvimento Integrado do Concelho de Idanha-a-Nova and Plano de Desenvolvimento Integrado de Vila Velha de Ródão;
  • 2013-2014: Senior researcher of the School Safety Net project, European Commission – Lifelong Learning Programme (KA4 - Dissemination and Exploitation of Results, and Exchange of Good Practice);
  • 2014: Senior researcher of the project Construir os Indicadores do Contributo das Instituições de Ensino Superior Politécnico para o Desenvolvimento das Regiões em que se Inserem, Portuguese Science & Technology Agency;
  • 2018 - …: Co-coodinator of the team that is responsible for the Parque Natural do Tejo Internacional Sustainability Plan.
